Offering hope through Jesus Christ.

The Gate community projects is built on the heart of Jesus actively sharing the love of God to all his children.

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.” – John 10:9

This is God’s ministry – we are here to reach out to kids and youngsters in Cape Town to assist them not to make mistakes in the wrong direction. We are here to help them find our Father, realise how great He is and how much He loves them.

God is a God of love.

When you walk the road with Him you feel His closeness and love and therefor feel safe. That is what “I am the gate” stands for.

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” – John 8:12

From brokenness to boldness

Most of the children, teenagers and young adults in this ministry come from broken homes where alcohol and drugs are abused. Many of these children have suffered terrible trauma and experienced complete hopelessness and despair in their lives. We have been able, by the grace of God to offer them a way out of the darkness:

Bible study, church and other events

We offer weekly bible study to help them learn the word of God and understand all that it entails to live a life dedicated to Christ. On weekends we experience different churches and events. We also have wholesome fun such a beach trips, museum visits and other awesome excursions.

Worship events and testimonies

Every month we host an event where children and adults of the valley come together to worship Jesus. Along with someone sharing their testimony and encouraging the fellow believers.

Feeding and prayer

Some of our older girls have already gone to the streets to pray for those in need through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. We feed and pray for the homeless while seeking better opportunity for them.

Education and employment

We have successfully managed to enrol some of the older kids in college and a
few are able to complete their matric. We would like to offer children/teenagers/young adults the opportunity to continue schooling, further their studies and create job opportunities where necessary.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

— Psalm 139: 13-14

THE ONLY TIME TO ACT IS NOW

Let’s imagine a world where all children have hope for the future.

My name is Francois Laubscher, and I was born into brokenness. As a child I experienced severe
abuse and as a result suffered trauma. I was removed from my home and placed into an orphanage with others who had suffered as I did. I tried my best to make a success of my life playing professional rugby but never had breakthrough in the areas I pursued…
